For the Mothers of the Daughters
On International Daughters' Day
Dear Reader;
Things no one tells you when you have a daughter.
She will be your tears, and she will be your indescribable joy.
She will be a part of your being, the way your very bones are a part of your being, and she will be so much of her own self that you will not recognize her.
She will be some of the things you always wanted to be, but so much more than you have ever dared.
She will be the sweetest taste you can imagine, present in every memory you will ever have from the day of her birth, and she will be as far away as your greatest, unlived dream.
She will be the things you want more than anything in the world, but now you will want them all for her.
She will be your nemesis, your hero, your brilliance, and your downfall.
She will be your own untold story, but utterly reborn from the person you were before you knew her.
She will be your passion, your fear, your stubbornness, your misunderstanding. She will be your courage, your desire, your hope, and your prayer... prayer, after prayer, after prayer.
Ultimately, she will be herself, which has absolutely nothing to do with you, and this will break your heart into a million pieces and fulfill your divine purpose, all at the same time.
Happy International Daughters’ Day to the beautiful being who emerged from my body once upon a time, diving into the world and bringing all beauty with her.
Dear one.. even when you are far away, may we always travel together. I love you.
much love to all, Adi
