THE ANSWER

If reason were the answer
every scholar would be one with God
If effort were the answer
every slave would live in bliss
If victory were the answer
every war would lead to wisdom
rather than
the repetition
of loss

Instead
all that is asked of us
is so much simpler
than any of these
as close
as the beating
of our hearts

When you seek
any answer
to any question
turn only
to the tiniest of children
the one who never grows up
and never goes away
but always remains within
See in her eyes
in his embrace
the miracle
of the Love that you are
and do nothing
but let surrender
begin
